In their first contest of the season, BUWCS traveled down to Connecticut College where they faced the Camels’ varsity team. Although falling behind by a goal in the first half, the girls displayed strength and versatility while rotating in a new roster. In the second half, Conn found the back of the net a second time off a long free kick, finding an open player in the 18th who tapped the ball in for a 2-0 advantage. The girls fought relentlessly, and after dominating virtually all half, Oriana Durand (’17) brought BU back up to 2-1, netting one in the far post off a pass from Kat Gullotta (’18). With high spirits and optimism, the girls connected seamlessly, creating opportunities down the flank and posing a threat to the Camels’ defense. Finally, late in the second half, Julia Tampellini (’18) hit a beautiful strike from far outside of the 18th, finding the top right corner to tie the game 2-2.
BU’s opener was an encouraging start to the season, and the girls can’t wait to take on St. A’s for their first home game today at 5:30 on Nickerson!!
